League of Legends Summer eSports Camp

About this event

New Media Manitoba is happy to announce our first-ever eSports camp for students ages 13-16. This camp is designed to help sharpen minds, improve gameplay, and allow participants to make new friends all in a safe and supportive community.

Featuring a curriculum designed for intermediate levels by Gameplan our coach and staff this camp will focus on League of Legends.  Players will be coached on various drills, strategies, and team-building exercises that will help them take the first steps from casual gameplay toward developing their competitive edge.  Any player who currently is ranked Gold or lower will learn many new skills to improve their gameplay.  Players ranked higher than this may find themselves familiar with some of the techniques taught here, however, we encourage players of all levels to sign up.

Improve your gaming skills while building important life skills that extend beyond the game.

About Your Coach

James now teaches at Kelvin High School where he manages/coaches their eSports program.  He has also been on the Board of the Manitoba High School eSports Association since it's official inception and is the Convener for their League of Legends program.  James is stuck in Bronze forever......mostly because he can't get enough of playing Braum and Taric!

James moved to Winnipeg and received both his B.Sc. in Math and Physics and his B.Ed from the University of Manitoba.  Many long nights were spent playing Age of Empires 2 over the network he and his friends ran through the ceiling tiles of the University College Residence (occasionally there was some studying too.)

In his spare time, James enjoys playing all types of videogames and is stuck as the DM in all of his Dungeons and Dragons groups.  He loves volunteering for Festival du Voyageur and teaching kids how to cook.
