7 WEEK COURSES | $255 + HST (INCLUDES ONE 3 HOUR CLASS PER WEEK FOR 7 WEEKS)

Tuesdays 6 PM – 9 PM | Starts February 12

Welcome to the wonderful world of batik – a colourful textile dyeing process that uses wax and dyes to hand paint one-of-a-kind designs! This course will begin painting with an introduction to wax (bees, soy, candle etc.). Exploring different medias, dyes and colour combinations and how they work on a range of different materials. We will be drawing with bold outline to create wonderful imagery that spring to life with the ancient art of batik.

Instructor: Kent Jensen

After graduating from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) with a Diploma in Surface Design, Kent Jensen began a fruitful career as a textile designer. His short-run, upcycled-wearables are a hit at craft sales, online, and in New Brunswick shops. He was a member of the popular Garrison Studio in the Barracks Fine Craft Shops, and is now one of three artisans in the Fredericton Artist Boutique (FAB), a pop-up that has made appearances in locations such as the Fredericton Regional Museum and local Holiday Markets. He is a member the Fibre Arts Network, and alumni of Artful Persuasion an artisan Collective, as well as a juried member of Craft NB.

What's the refund policy?

Attendees can receive full refunds up to 7 days before your events start date. After that a special request will need to be made to the organizer.

Upon cancellation of the workshops due to low enrollement or extenuating circumstance a full refund will be granted.

What happens if a class is cancelled?

If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, or another unfortunate circumstance, every attempt will be made to notify participants in advance. Participants will be notified of the rescheduled class time during their next session, or by phone or email.

Where do I park?

Parking for courses offered at the college follows city of Fredericton parking by-laws. There is no charge for public parking in the downtown area after 5 p.m. on weekdays, and parking is free on weekends.
