Event description

Description

ONE DAY WORKSHOPS | $85 + HST (INCLUDES ONE 6 HOUR CLASS)

In this full day workshop participants will engage with the design process. They will sketch and hand-carve a linoleum block, and print their original designs, while learning about the tools, inks, and paper used in the process. We will experiment with colour and detail, and explore value, positive and negative space, and the historical significance of relief printing as we go. At the end of the day each participant will leave with multiple finished prints and their own carved block, which can be reused to print more at home.

MATERIAL COST: $20.00 (Payable to the instructor the day of the workshop)

Instructor: Kirsten Stackhouse

Kirsten Stackhouse is a digital illustrator, graphic designer, and theatre designer who graduated from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) Graphic Design Diploma program, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree (with a minor in Theatre) from a joint program between UNB and NBCCD. She has produced work that has been featured by The Canadian Improv Games, Teletoon, and Kuretake ZIG, and is the author/illustrator of the book Raccoons of Odell Park. Primarily working with modern digital methods professionally, Kirsten also has a keen interest in the historical roots of graphic design, with a particularly strong passion for old style typesetting and block printing (digital-free).
