7 WEEK COURSES | $255 + HST (INCLUDES ONE 3 HOUR CLASS PER WEEK FOR 7 WEEKS)

Tuesdays 6 PM – 9 PM| Starts February 12

Painting People and Places is a 7-week course designed to equip students with some of the techniques, practices, formal ideas, and conceptual concerns of realist painting. Using acrylic paint (with forays into oil), the course will strive to give students the skills, ideas, and confidence to make painting a serious, enjoyable, and thoughtful practice of self-expression. Weekly sessions will begin with a quick slideshow presentation and discussion about many of the themes, ideas, and strategies that inform art history and contemporary painting practices.

Instructor: Jared Peters

Jared Peters has participated in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, and his work can be found in collections across the country and internationally, including in the New Brunswick Art Bank. He received a BA in History from the University of New Brunswick, a BFA from NSCAD University, and an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Western Ontario. A recipient of numerous awards and grants, Jared Peters was also a semi-finalist in the 2011 RBC Canadian Painting Competition. He currently lives and works in New Brunswick, Canada.

What's the refund policy?

Attendees can receive full refunds up to 7 days before your events start date. After that a special request will need to be made to the organizer.

Upon cancellation of the workshops due to low enrollement or extenuating circumstance a full refund will be granted.

What happens if a class is cancelled?

If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, or another unfortunate circumstance, every attempt will be made to notify participants in advance. Participants will be notified of the rescheduled class time during their next session, or by phone or email.

Where do I park?

Parking for courses offered at the college follows city of Fredericton parking by-laws. There is no charge for public parking in the downtown area after 5 p.m. on weekdays, and parking is free on weekends.
