Event description

Description

7 WEEK COURSES | $255 + HST (INCLUDES ONE 3 HOUR CLASS PER WEEK FOR 7 WEEKS)

Wednesdays 6 PM – 9 PM | Starts February 13

Come into the dark at The New Brunswick College of Craft and Design with instructor Karen Ruet (roo-ay) and create some Real Life Prints. Bring existing negatives from your archive, or come prepared to shoot some film to create new works. Karen will walk you through the process of enlarging negatives to create beautiful rich and tonal archival black and white prints in the dark room. Create lasting memories that you can frame or matt for you to enjoy for years to come.

MATERIAL COST: $65.00 (includes the cost of buying 30 sheets of paper and darkroom chemistry for 7 weeks) | Participants are encouraged to bring their own archival negatives but can process film during the course.

Instructor: Karen Ruet

Like many photographers of the film era, Karen Ruet fell madly in love with darkroom printing, and only grew more fascinated over time with the process and chemistry that work together to produce a pristine black and white print. Karen has worked full-time at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) teaching in the photography studio and as the Coordinator for the George Fry Gallery since 2005. She was a founding member of the SilverFish Photography Collective (2000), and has participated in more than 40 photography exhibitions. In 2015 she co-curated Phantom Presence: Contemporary Photography in New Brunswick at The Beaverbrook Art Gallery with then curator and CEO, Terry Graff, showing the work of nineteen New Brunswick photographers.
