Description

Learn R with Kyle

Speaker: Kyle Booker

R is a mathematical and statistical programming language, widely used in statistics and data science. It fills a similar niche to MatLab, but has gained wide usage thanks to its open source packages and wide availability of statistical and mathematical libraries.

It consists of a language plus a run-time environment with graphics, a debugger, access to certain system functions, and the ability to run programs stored in script files. This workshop will be taught by Kyle Booker, a local mathematician with a special interest in combinatorics and graph theory. Kyle is a research assistant for TRU's mathematics department and a regular volunteer for the math help centre.

This workshop is designed for people with an intermediate understanding of programming. If you're cozy programming with Java, Python, or any other langauge, this workshop is for you!

What we'll cover:

  • Basic introduction to R
  • Typical best-practice workflow R
  • Some Basic Tutorials with the R language
