About this event

We love our allies, but we ask that you allow BIPoC members to register for this event. Thank you!

Come try rowing with the Colour the Trails Community! This event provides an opportunity to learn the basics of rowing, including exposure to on-land training and on-water rowing.

Rowing is an excellent full-body sport that can be used as a relaxing recreational activity, or it can become a competitive pursuit. This introduction will provide the foundation for understanding and enjoying rowing, and will lead to future opportunities for those who want to continue.

When: Sunday, August 14, 12:30PM-4PM

Where: Burnaby Lake

This event takes place on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples.

As this is a water activity, it's important that you feel comfortable in and on the water. In the event you do tip into the water, you'll need to be able to keep your head above the water (while wearing a lifejacket) and wait for the instructor to assist you out of the water.

More details will be sent out with what you need to prepare a few days prior to this lesson. Any necessary gear will be provided (lifejacket, boat, oars, etc.). Please make sure to wear clothing that is not cotton in the event your clothing gets wet. Please check the weather before the event and dress appropriately based on the forecast!

This event is in collaboration with Rowing BC.
