The Remuneration Task Force at Vancouver Division invites you to attend a learning session on physician remuneration and payment models. The event will be held virtually on Tuesday, November 10 from 6:00-7:30pm, via Zoom Meeting. The Zoom link will be sent to attendees closer to the date.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the major models of remuneration available to physicians in BC
- Critically appraise one new payment offering from the MOH using the known strengths and weaknesses
- Describe how a payment model shapes day to day practice, and how it aligns with your own needs and values?
- Create questions that can be asked in order to critically assess new funding models as they are offered
The first portion of the event will be a didactic on the major remuneration models, followed by a Q&A session with panelists who have experience with Population-Based Funding and service contracts. We will then have small-group discussion in Zoom breakout rooms, where you will learn how to critically appraise a contract.
We will use the recently released physician contracts from the MoH as examples for the appraisal exercise: (1) Group contract for practicing full service family physicians (2) Individual contract for new-to-practice family physicians (3) COVID-19 temporary contract.
Note: The specific details of these contracts will not be discussed but are available on the DoBC website: https://www.doctorsofbc.ca/managing-your-practice/compensation/contract-offerings
