Event description

Description

DigiBC is proud to offer our members the opportunity to learn from leading lawyers practicing in the Vancouver video game industry. The symposium features Karam Bayrakal, co-lead of Fasken's Technology, Media and Telecommunications group (and DigiBC board member) and Ryan Black, Technology, Intellectual Property and Privacy group and Co-Chair, Video Games and Esports, at McMillan's Vancouver office. Karam, Ryan and their colleagues will present a half-day interactive session that has been custom-tailored to the DigiBC audience. The informative afternoon will explore the risks and opportunities presented by the rapid legal changes in games and cover an assortment of essential topics. Some of the areas covered include:

Keynote: the risks and realities of the WHO classification of “gaming disorder”, debunking the science of the “violent video game” myth, and the upcoming regulatory landscape

• Securing and monetizing intellectual property, cybersecurity and privacy in the video game landscape
