About the speakers:
Shirley Madill is Executive Director at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. Prior to this position she has held Director and Curatorial positions at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Hamilton, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and Rodman Hall Art Centre/Brock University. She has served as a member of various Boards including Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers and the Ontario Association of Art Galleries. She is currently President of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Art Museum Directors Organization and Past President of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Museums Canada. In 2009 she completed the Museum Leadership Course at the Getty Institute in Los Angeles and has taught Museum and Cultural Resource Management at the University of Victoria.
Tim Sothern has over 25 years of public accounting experience with BDO in Waterloo Region.
Tim was recently elected to BDO’s National Policy Board and is also the Southern and Midwestern Ontario Region Leader for BDO’s Not-for-Profit Industry Team.
In 2011, Tim was awarded one of the highest honours in accounting, Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) designation, for his service to the profession and career and community achievements that have brought honour to the profession. He is very active as a volunteer in both the business and not-for-profit communities including as member of the audit committee of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and member of the Board of Directors for Supportive Housing of Waterloo and the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce.
