Lethbridge Youth Chess Championship
Sat, January 28, 2017, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM MST
This chess championship is for players under the age of 18!
Fees: $10 entry fee per player. Pay cash at the event only.
Format: 5 rounds at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 pm in Swiss or Round Robin format with 30 minutes plus 5 seconds increments time controls. All games will be registered with the Chess Federation of Canada.
Under Age 8 (Born after January 1, 2009)
Under Age 10 (Born after January 1, 2007)
Under Age 12 (Born after January 1, 2005)
Under Age 14 (Born after January 1, 2003)
Under Age 16 (Born after January 1, 2001)
Under Age 18 (Born after January 1, 1999)
Sections may be combined depending on attendance. Section winners and runner-ups will get free entry to the Alberta Youth Chess Championship on February 25 & 26, 2017 in Edmonton.
Prizes: Section winners will receive $100 as credit for chess training with professional chess instructors from Alberta.

Tie-breaking: If it is necessary to break a tie according to the points accumulated in order to award prizes, the following criteria will be used:
Who has more points in a direct head-to-head comparison (in case of a two-way tie)
Who has the most wins?
Who has the fewest losses?
Single Blitz games (5 minutes of time for either player) until a decision is reached either one-on-one or as round robin for a tie between more than two players
