Event description

Description

What is the Community Inclusion Committee?

A few like-minded volunteers who met at the EFCL’s Leagues Alive conference in October 2018 have recently created the Community Inclusion Committee (CIC) to generate awareness, dialogue and action for people to recognize community diversity as an asset and work towards real inclusion.

“Let’s chat about inclusion” is the CIC’s kick-off event.

What will the event look like?

The World Café-inspired “Let’s chat about inclusion” event discussions will be facilitated by guest speakers and community leaders who navigate their lived experiences as members of Indigenous and ethnocultural communities as well as disabled, youth and senior groups amongst others.

The aim of the event is to provide a venue for Community League members to discuss how to best foster inclusion within the community league framework.

When: Thursday, August 22, 2019.

Registration starts at 5:30 p.m.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Discussion time will be 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Speakers who will be presenting at the event are:
Sharon Pasula, Indigenous Cultural, Educational and Spiritual Leader
Marc Workman, Social Advocacy - Oliver Community League
Katie Hayes, Edmonton's NextGen

Where: Ritchie Community League, 7727 98 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5C9
