Bill 47 – Making Ontario Open for Business Act replaced Bill 148 – Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act on November 21, 2018. Please join us for this information session to talk about the impacts of Bill 47 on people and families who purchase the service of self-employed/independent contractors. We will look at questions, such as:

  • What are the differences between employees and self-employed/independent contractors?
  • What are the responsibilities of people and families?
  • What can be expected of independent contractors?
  • How can people and families protect themselves and have good relationships with workers?

  • Presentation by employment lawyer, J.P. Karam of Willis Law
  • Dedicated time for Questions and Answers for people and families to share and learn together

About the Presenter

J.P. Karam is a Senior Associate with Willis Business Law, practicing in firm’s Labour and Employment Department. J.P. only acts for management clients and advises them on a wide range of labour and employment matters, including employment standards, collective bargaining, drafting contracts and policies, and advising on human rights matters.
