Event description

How Do I Make My Characters Believable?

Crafting the way your characters speak should come naturally since we talk all the time. But dialogue is more than just saying words to each other. It’s a vital part of any story and if it’s not done right, our stories fall flat.

In this one-day practical workshop, we'll explore how to write dialogue effectively so it advances the plot, reveals motivations, adds tension, and does so in a believable way.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have all the practical tools and knowledge to transform words into effective and convincing dialogue no matter what genre you’re writing in.

What We’ll Cover

This workshop gets right down into the practical application of tips and techniques. No fluff! We’ll cover:

  • The mechanics and structure of dialogue, including how to bring out feelings, actions, and just the right words.

  • What effective dialogue sounds like

  • Using dialogue to advance the plot, bring out character motivations, and supply needed background.

  • Techniques to improve your dialogue-writing skills immediately

Who Should Take This Workshop

This workshop is ideal if you:

  • want to write realistic dialogue with intention and confidence

  • want to improve the overall page-turning quality of your stories

  • already have some practice writing creatively

What We'll Do

In-class time is a mix of teaching writing strategies and showing real-life examples of how they work. We will also spend time developing your voice and style and writing in class so you’ll have a chance to learn as much as we can from each other.

My Role

My role is to coach you through the process, give you constructive feedback, show you the proven techniques that experienced writers use. I will help you develop your dialogue writing skills...guaranteed!

Money Back Guarantee

I'm so confident my workshop will give you the confidence to write dialogue more effectively that I'm offering a 100% personal money back guarantee. If you're not completely satisfied by the end of the workshop, I'll give you your money back no questions asked.
