Event description

Description

We are excited to kick off the Nova Scotia Health Authority Information Management & Technology (NSHA IM/IT) Let's Talk Informatics series this fall after a brief summer break.

For the September session, we are pleased to present Discrete Event Simulation. This presentation will describe the FlexIM HC Discrete Event Simulation (DES) tool that is designed for use in health care settings. NSHA's Project Services & Performance Improvement team is now using this tool to simulate current and future services.

Please join us in welcoming our guest speakers:

  • Daryl MacNeil, P.Eng., MBA, NSHA Planning and Quality Management

  • Terry Boudreau, P.Eng., B.Sc., Industrial Engineer, NSHA Project Services & Performance Improvement

Our presenters will provide a brief overview of the tool and insight on the level of informatics data used and how the tool can be implemented to simulate health care services. Some current NSHA models, as well as sample non-NSHA models will be shared.
