About this Event

According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 1 in 5 people will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. That means 1 in 5 people in our communities are dealing with pain----and too often that pain is felt in isolation.

LET'S TALK MENTAL HEALTH

A one-day SEMINAR hosted by SHBC featuring keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Capt. Gordon Poley (BA MDiv DMin CD)

  • Gordon is a Maritimer from Prince Edward Island and has pastored for 25 years in all three Maritime provinces. He and his wonderful wife, Debra have four daughters and four grand daughters. They are a "special needs" family as they continue to care for Robin & Rose who are both physically and mentally challenged.
  • Gordon completed his Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston, MA. His thesis project was "Equipping the Laity to Care for Others in Crisis." He has served as a military chaplain for the past 11 years and is currently serving the largest unit in the Western Army, 1 Service Battalion. Padre Gord says, "Nobody goes through life unscathed. We are all Fallen and broken to some degree. God is the Great Comforter. And perhaps we are never more like Him than when we, too, are comforting those physically, mentally emotionally and spiritually afflicted."

Please bring your own lunch.
