<h3>Let's Talk: Official Community Plan Update - Housing Online Information Session </h3>Join us for an online information session to learn more about the <a href="https://engage.victoria.ca/ocp" title="https://engage.victoria.ca/ocp" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Official Community Plan update</a> and ways you can provide feedback to help shape how Victoria can grow and change into the future. This is the first of six online information sessions where you can learn about the proposed OCP update and ask your questions to City staff. Each session will cover key points of the OCP update and also spotlight one of the OCP engagement topic areas: Housing, Community or Climate. <h3>Event Details:</h3><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caw3Z4oKceQ" title="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caw3Z4oKceQ" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The OCP is a big deal. </a>It’s the long-term plan that shapes where housing, businesses and public spaces should go and how we move around the city. A focus of the 10-Year OCP update is to support high-quality communities with more housing choices, services, amenities and transportation options for a lower carbon city where residents have what they need close to home. This information session will go over key points of the proposed OCP update and discuss topics related to:· Housing · Climate · Community<h4> </h4><h3>Spotlight: Housing</h3>In addition to the information about the overall OCP update, this session will also dig deeper into OCP housing topics. Victoria's population is growing and more diverse housing options are needed. By 2050, 34,600 new homes will be required to house Victoria’s growing population. These homes will need to provide both rental and ownership options of various types and sizes suitable for different households, including families with children.This online session will highlight housing topics on:· Victoria’s housing needs and closing the housing gap · Enabling a diversity of rental, non-market, and family friendly housing options · The role of the OCP update and the modernized zoning bylaw in enabling more housing · New housing and how different forms can fit on a block · Locations of new housing close to key destinations and ways to get around · Housing policy relationship to climate policy · Aligning local action with federal and provincial programs and requirements that address the housing crisis
