Let's Talk Science Saturdays: Gr. 1 (Structures & Materials)
Event Information
Description
Do you wish you had more opportunities to learn with your child, or do you love finding unique and fun learning opportunities for them? Would you like to get your children more interested in science? Is your child already interested in science and you want to cultivate this interest? Ever wondered what the wolf’s side of the story was for the three little pigs? Do you enjoy making structures out of marshmallows? Ever wonder how recycled paper is made?
If you said “yes” to any of the above questions, come on out and join Let’s Talk Science for Science Saturday! Where we will be doing fun hands on-science for the whole family! On this particular Saturday, our activities will be aimed at a grade 1 level (although, students up to grade 2 and kindergarten would also find this activity age appropriate and interesting).
From 2:30-3:30 PM we will be having fun with our "Structures & Materials" activity, where children and parents will get to read the book “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” by Jon Scieszka, build and test of the strength of structures built out of three different materials, and make recycled paper that you can take home!
Please note, parents or an adult must stay with the child for the duration of this activity, since it is a family science day after all!
Spots are limited, and tickets will be checked at the door to ensure appropriate group numbers.
We will also be offering an activity before this one, from 1:00-2:00 PM, (also at the grade 1 level), called "Animal Adaptations". Please register for the second session through Eventbrite as well, if you are interested in attending both: https://scisatadapt2.eventbrite.ca
Please contact us if you have any questions & we hope to see you there!
