Description
Letterpress for Beginners
This workshop is for absolute beginners or anyone who needs a refresher course in traditional letterpress printing. Learn some of the basics of type setting, inking, and operating the press. By the end of this workshop you should be able to operate the press and make a print!
Space is limited and we are able to accommodate up to six participants. You are best to RSVP in advance via Eventbrite. If not all tickets are sold online, drop in tickets will be sold at the studio. The full cost of the workshop is $40.00 but because we are committed to inclusivity and accessibility we've included a sliding scale option. Please pay what you can.
Alex Linfield and Morgan Melenka are artists from Edmonton AB who both received BFA's from the University of Alberta in printmaking. Both have experience with silkscreen, lithography, copper etching, woodblock and letterpress. They are active participants at Edmonton's artist-run-print-shop, SNAP where they have also taught workshops. Morgan recently was an artist-in-residence at a Montreal printshop where she worked on silkscreen-based prints and Alex is currently exploring the expanded sphere of print-based works.
