It’s no secret that an engaged workforce is the heart of a successful organization. The employee communications function plays a strong role in supporting engagement through information sharing and communicating the culture. Sounds simple, but how does it all come to life?

Learn from a panel of employee communication professionals how they leverage digital communication channels and tools to help drive engagement and culture.

Faciliator: Johanna Dietrich, nForm User Experience

Johanna is Director at nForm User Experience. A seasoned user experience and information architecture consultant, she has planned, developed, and managed many large-scale websites and intranets, leveraging her expertise in information architecture, content management, governance, and metadata.

 

 

 

Panelist: Karen Mills, Director Board and Superintendent Relations, Edmonton Public Schools

Karen brought over two decades of communications experience when she came to Edmonton Public Schools three years ago. As manager of internal communications, she and her team began the planning and development of a district intranet. Now heading into the implementation phase, this project is designed to connect almost 10,000 employees across 215 locations. In her new role, Karen acts as institutional memory/advisor on the intranet project, and as the liaison between the elected Board of Trustees and district administration. 

 

 

Panelist: Marcie Richardson, Global Brand Engagement Manager, Deloitte

With an MBA in marketing, over 15 years’ work experience in brand, marketing, and communications, and two young girls, Marcie is confident in at least one truth: There's always a story to tell. And if told right, the power of story is amazing.

After starting her career working for small businesses, Marcie Richardson has been with Deloitte for the past nine years, initially providing marketing and communications support to the Edmonton office before making the move to Deloitte Global in 2011. Marcie connects with colleagues across the Deloitte global network through interesting communications and initiatives, engaging employees in over 150 countries with living the brand and delivering a unified brand experience. But Marcie’s biggest challenges inarguably come from raising two beautiful young daughters to be kind, confident, happy young people. So whether connecting with her daughters or engaging over 250,000 employees, it’s all about finding the right story to tell—one that is compelling and authentic, and that people want to be a part of.

 

Panelist: Jacqualine Ladouceur, Manager of Internal Communications, ATCO

Jacqualine Ladouceur has worked in the communications field for 15 years. She has held a variety of roles in various industries including non-profit, government and business. Currently, she's the manager of internal communications at ATCO and has been instrumental in leading the research and development of the intranet site that supports the communications needs of the ATCO's electricity global business unit.

 

 

Panelist: Carole Stevenson-Roy, Director, Member Experience, Alberta Motor Association 

Carole Stevenson-Roy is the Director of Member Experience for AMA, which includes internal communications, media relations, in-centre experience, experiential community marketing, social and online content and the award- winning magazine, AMA Insider. Recently, AMA reimagined their intranet and Carole will share learnings and early insights from the project.  Before joining AMA, Carole held positions in the public and private sector including the role of the first Director of Internal Communications for the Alberta Government. She’s been involved in industries from telecommunications, retail, publishing and consumer goods to insurance, banking and travel.
