About this Event

Saturday, October 19th - Richelieu Vanier Commmunity Center

Opening ceremony will be at noon

Closing ceremony will be at 4:45

Feast to follow

MC: Rhonda Doxtator

AD: Mista Wasis

Host Drum: Ottawa River Singers

Co-Host Drum: Eagle River Singers

Special guest drum: Whitetail Cree Singers.

This Powwow will include traditional dancers, singers, crafts, food, and more. Crafts made by local, Indigenous people will be on display. Powwow will also include spaces for families of all ages, including children's activities and a bouncy castle. There will also be door prizes and a giveaway!

List of vendors to be announced. Please bring cash if you would like to purchase items from vendors as there is no ATM onsite.

Please note that this event will take place, rain or shine. We encourage folks to dress according to the weather.


There is some parking on site - however it is very limited. We encourage folks to use public transportation. Bus route 20 goes straight to the community center from St. Laurent Mall. For more info on bus routes, please visit the OC Transpo website.

Please note that there will be a walk to honor MMIWG2S. We recognize this may be triggering or upsetting. Elders and staff will be there to support you so please feel free to reach out.

If this is your first time attending a Powwow or you are not familiar with them, please refer to page 20 for more information on what to expect, as well as Powwow etiquette.


We ask that folks refrain from wearing any scents (ex: perfume, cologne, body spray etc)

There will be washrooms on site, both outside and inside

Minwaashin staff will be wearing t-shirts with our logo if you need any assistance

If you need support, Elders and staff are available

Please bring your own refillable water bottle

There are elevators inside the community center

Please note that food may contain allergens. If this is a concern, please contact Flo. Vegan and gluten free options will be available

First Aid will be on site

The ground may be uneven in certain areas so wear proper shoes.
