Event description

Description

Let’s have an open conversation about living a life with no limits. Let’s dive deep into what stops you from living the life that you’re destined to live - a life full of purpose, passion, and perseverance.

Limitless: Learning Never Ends is an interactive discussion-based workshop that aims to connect those who aspire to create meaningful impact. Let’s talk about how love, lifestyle, learning, leverage, and the lessons that we’ve learned experiencing them.

This month's theme is creative communities.

Panel speakers:

Joshua Bartlett (Posh):

Joshua Bartlett, known by most as Posh is a Signed Model, Podcast Host, and Entrepreneur with fingers in many pies. Raised in the UK, Josh moved to Canada with his family when he was 13, he spent 8 years of his life developing his skills as a musician in Calgary AB, before moving to Vancouver BC in 2017 to follow his love for music and all things creative. It wasn't until moving to Vancouver that Josh started to explore more of his creative side, and through one very random tinder date, Josh ended up attending Vancouver fashion week, this is where he heard about a meetup group, Vancitywears. Josh ended up attending one of these meetups, and through the ringer of instagram and more meetups, Josh eventually started to grab the attention of photographers, designers, and other Vancouver creatives. This is where Josh started to develop his skills as a freelance model, before signing to Charles Stuart International. Safe to say Josh has kept himself busy, modelling for several different companies, collaborating with Vancouver creatives and photographers, designing and showcasing his own fashion line, running a studio space, and most recently creating a podcast to highlight Vancouver's very own. When Josh isn't busy, you will more than likely find him hiding away in his room, bingeing on his fav sitcom Friends, or at the jam space practicing with his newly formed band.Fueled by coffee, faith, and as much of a fearless attitude as possible, Josh intends to take his modelling career overseas and work in such markets as London and New York, and take on whatever opportunities this journey has for him along the way.

Jacquile Kambo

Jacquile Singh Kambo is an award winning Director and Writer for "Help Wanted" (2016) focusing on South Asian gang violence. Fascinated with film noir and drama, he has written and directed his next short film “Showstopper”, focusing on female empowerment through the fashion and boxing industries. He hopes the film will bring attention to those struggling with their identity and self esteem. His passion for storytelling drives him to build connections and change perspectives. Jacquile hopes to expand his achievements into writing and directing feature films.

Jamila Pomeroy

Jamila Pomeroy is a multidisciplinary storyteller. In short, that means she tells stories, help people tell their story, and help brands tell their story, through many different outlets of expression: as a writer, editor, journalist, brand-developer, commercial actor, and model. These expressions may all seem vastly different on the outside, but when it comes down to it, they all demand one thing: for people to leave feeling connected through the power of storytelling. She started out as a music journalist, after trying to publish a book and getting scouted by a local magazine. Things quickly spiraled, prompting her to leave my then studio job as a reproduction painter. Since, I have contributed locally and internationally to publications such as BBC, Red Bull, Daily Hive, Montecristo Magazine, and BeatRoute Magazine, and Avocado Toast Post-- her own publication. Her first book comes out October 2nd 2019, after three years of submitting to publishing agencies. The work of a writer is so often glorified, but it is hard, unkind, and often lonely. On the flipside, She feels like she has entered the literary space at such a pivottable time: the space that once was home to wealthy white men is now being reinvented through empowerment-- and she is happy to be speaking from her lense as a young woman of colour, bringing voice to the stories and narratives that are often silenced.

Arshan Jawaid

Arshan Jawaid is 19 years old, and founder of the Vancouver based hip hop outlet, Kids Take Over. His passion for covering entertainment dates back to high school, where he would interview anybody locally available for my weekly podcast. After experimenting with videography and motion graphics, he hustled his way into producing monthly interviews with famous hip hop artists. After his guests kept getting bigger and bigger, he decided to launch an actual media outlet, create consistent content, and focus it around the youth. Too many times he was told that he was too young to have his own show, so he made my own, and aim to inspire other young creatives to follow their dreams too.

Our hosts:

Tom Vanderkam

An immigrant farmboy turned artist and academic, Tom Vanderkam is a musician and producer from White Rock, BC who seeks to help artists understand themselves and their creative Instinct. Known primarily as the Vocalist and Guitarist of Progressive Metal band HAWKING, Vanderkam’s years of experience in music span from playing in bars at age 12 to managing the logistics of international tours via his agency Badmouth Booking by age 20. At 24, inspired equally by the mysteries of the creative impulse as by history and neuropsychology, Vanderkam brings to the table a visionary understanding of the artistic ecosystem cultivated through endless first-hand experience, deep personal relationships with creatives around the globe, and a lifetime of cross-disciplinary perspective.
