About this Event

MOONFRUITS | Saint Somewhere

Harkening back to the days of radio plays, Ottawa's Moonfruits’ sophomore release 'Ste-Quequepart', or “Saint Somewhere”, is a folk concept album steeped in melodrama. A vibrant celebration of the human spirit, it plays like a short-film soundtrack and lucidly tells the story of a village making a hopeful go of a hard here and now. Performed in English and French, and pulling as much from their imaginations as from their encounters on the road, intimate moments give way to cinematic arrangements as characters emerge and speak through song in a show that mixes song, story-telling and touches of theatre.

Moonfruits have won SOCAN and Félix-Leclerc Songwriting awards, have performed across Canada and in the USA and were featured in the the first simultaneous radio broadcast between CBC and Radio-Canada. Eastern audiences have been buzzing about this work and we feel most privileged to have them come our way.

Opening Act will feature Victoria-based 'sultry folk' singer-songwriter Sarah Osborne who will be sharing songs from her upcoming album, 'She Rows'. Her craft of timeless poetry and emotionally ripe music are inspired by the old growth forests and thick salty air of Canada’s wild west coast.

This will be a most unusual night full of connection, camaraderie and music. Come hear it for yourself.
