LionsBayHouseConcert: Reverend Sekou: In Times Like These

"His call to action is fervent and wholehearted, steeped in history with hopes for brighter days" - Bob Boilen / NPR

AGES 15+ Welcome

Juke joint meets church house and a whole lot in between! Scoop a ticket soon or you’ll be sorry!! Reverend Osagyefo (oh-sah-GEE-fo) Uhuru (ooh-WHO-roo) Sekou (SAY-koo) is an activist, author, theologian, documentary film-maker and musician. His rich musical roots are steeped in the deep Arkansas blues and gospel traditions. His debut album, In Times Like These, is a new vision for what Southern blues can mean today.

Fresh off the plane from Collingwood, Calgary, Regina, Edmonton and Salmon Arm Folk Festival main stages, he's bringing all that jam with him to Lions Bay for one unforgettable night. Come hear the blues as it is rarely heard today: FEATURING Rev Sekou - vocals , Adam Dimpker - electric guitar, Martin Dimpker - acoustic guitar, Erik Lundin - drums, Samuel Collmar - bass, Kery Greene - keys/organ, Phil Hughley - electric guitar and Kim Mont - backgroud vocals. A seriously talented veritable wall of sound. Don't hetitate because this is a full-on "once-in-a-blue-moon" presentation.
