Event Details

Building codes, standards, and voluntary regulations have been changing – perhaps more quickly than at almost any time in history – to improve the resource efficiency and durability of buildings. Current and proposed building codes contain simple and reasonable provisions for much better building enclosures, but these changes also have far-reaching implications. This presentation will examine code changes, the building science behind them, and their direct impact on architectural design. Case studies and related research will be used to explain how new code requirements are addressing issues such as thermal bridging and whole building airtightness – and how meeting these requirements will change the look of modern buildings.

Presenter: Alex Lukachko
