Event Details

Standard test methods can be invaluable for specification writing, commissioning, compliance and forensic investigation. However, a one-size-fits-all approach isn't always useful. You can easily end up with thousand-page spec documents requiring products to meet completely irrelevant standards -- or extensive (and expensive) test reports that do little to ensure long-term built performance. In this presentation, we will look at different situations where testing is used and consider what you really need to know in each case. We will then discuss what common standard tests can and can't tell you. Finally, we will present examples of alternative nonstandard approaches that have been used successfully to answer specific questions in the lab and in the field.

Presenter: John Straube
