The ability to negotiate effectively and confidently is a key part of one’s professional growth and success. Yet for many, negotiation can often feel like an intimidating and daunting task, whether it’s for a raise, a promotion, or even work division within a team.

If improving your negotiation skills is part of your professional goals, join us at our upcoming Live Your Potential Talk Series for an honest conversation on the Art of Negotiation. Our panel of established professionals will share their insights and tangible tips on negotiating effectively and with confidence, based on their own professional experiences including the mistakes they have made and the wisdom gained along the way.

It provides a platform that highlights empowering leaders from diverse backgrounds while also shedding light on real issues that affect everyday working professionals. Meet our fantastic panelists:

Deen Ajasa, HR Director Ontario Public Service

Deen Ajasa holds a bachelor degree in Political Science and Public Administration and a certificate in Human Resources Management from Humber College. In 2003, he received the industry standard designation of CHRP – Certified Human Resources Professional.

Deen has over 20 years of experience in the areas of employment services and human resources. His work experience cuts across all sectors including the private, government, non-profit, and community organizations; working on various programs and services such as mentoring, race relations, job search, workplace diversity, cross-cultural communication, and Train-the-Trainer programs to assist youths, new immigrants, older workers, single mothers, and other unemployed or underemployed individuals navigate the Canadian labour market and secure meaningful employment. Deen was recognized in 1995 by Skills for Change, a community based employment services organization, with the New Pioneers Award for his contribution to the immigrant community in Toronto.

Deen incorporates his multifaceted experience in human resources, training, employment services, and program management to adopt an anti-racist, human rights, diversity and inclusive orientation in working with his colleagues, clients, and stakeholders (both internal and external) . His main professional interest is focused on how organizations can effectively address human resource challenges posed by today’s ever-changing workforce to meet their business objectives. He firmly believes that the business imperative is for organizations to harness the strengths that each individual bring to the workplace by ensuring that inclusive practices permeates the entire organization.

Vincent Lee, Managing Director & Head of North American Institutional FX Sales at CIBC World Markets

Vincent Lee is Managing Director and Head of North American Institutional FX Sales at CIBC World Markets. With over two decades of experience, he leads teams in Toronto and New York servicing CIBC’s largest foreign exchange clients. Vincent started his career as an intern at TD Bank in 1994 and quickly established himself as a builder of relationships and the provider of innovative solutions. He rose through the ranks to become the Canadian Head of Institutional FX Sales at TD before joining CIBC.

Vincent Lee is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. Vincent is a Board Member of Ascend Canada and a Board Member of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC). He is an active participant in visible minority, mentoring and charitable initiatives. Vincent is a husband and the proud father of two daughters. In his free time, he is an avid tennis player, skier and golfer.

Cindy Stradling CSL, CPC, Founder of Athena Training & Consulting Inc.

Sales trainer, sales coach and sales agent Cindy Stradling brings over 25 years of practical hands on business experience to her work. In her role as a training agent, clients have come to rely and trust her to provide them with the “Perfect Fit” solution when they have a need to outsource training, coaching and HR consulting.

Cindy is the founder of Athena Training & Consulting Inc. - One Source for all your training needs. She simplifies the process and reduces the risk of outsourcing training, coaching and HR Consulting. Athena represents hundreds of highly skilled Global Trainers, Coaches and Consultants specializing in all industries and verticals.

Cindy has achieved her professional sales designations CSP (Certified Sales Professional) and CSL (Certified Sales Leader) through the Canadian Professional Sales Association. She is a Certified Coach and a certified CPSA sales trainer.

Cindy is the founder of a non-profit organization. Courage in Action is a sisterhood committed to support women as they move from adversity to possibility.

Keren Yun, Chief Marketing Officer at HBH Group

Keren is Chief Marketing Officer at HBH Group and Professional Multidisciplinarian. She is a professional multidisciplinarian, with skills ranging from music (in a former life) to investor relations and communications (past present), where she spent over 15 years working in the corporate sector for mining, asset management and real estate companies. Channeling her entrepreneurial spirit, Keren co-founded the HBH Group in 2013, developing and executing the company’s strategic marketing plans, which served as a catalyst in raising sufficient funds (talk about negotiation skills) to build a portfolio of three full-service restaurant establishments, as well as an events management and catering company in under four years. Her greatest thrill comes from crafting key messages and bringing them to life through content creation and print media. Keren is a self-proclaimed formatting freak and PowerPoint guru with a crazy eye for detail. She also loves coffee and shoes.

We are also pleased to have LYP Program Alumna Sephra Khan as our moderator for the evening.

Sephra Khan is a facilitator, educator and writer. Working for the Toronto District School Board for 21 years in various roles, Sephra's leadership focusses on the power of story, creating safe spaces for change and sparking hope with humour and light. Sephra Khan approaches her work with adults and youth with an inclusive, holistic and innovative design. Outside of the TDSB, Sephra has been part of several charitable organizations such as The Girl's Art League, Society of Sharing, and the Fort York Foodbank. An avid traveller, a curious Buddhist and budding life coach,Sephra motivates with her heart and connects with her smile. She is currently a guest writer for LIVE YOUR POTENTIAL.
