Livestock Crossings Tour
Date and time
Description
This Livestock Crossings Tour will provide an opportunity to view different crossing structures developed to assist moving livestock or equipment across water. Two of the structures were built over streams with defined banks and channels, and the other structure is over a draw where water flow made tractor access difficult in the past. These structures are designed to be simple to build and maintain as well as improve streambank function. The goals of these crossings are to make management easier for the producer/manager of livestock, to improve flood and drought resiliency, and to increase water quality by helping keep animals and machines out of the water and mud.
This is a field tour so please wear weather appropriate clothing and suitable footwear for walking through fields, mud, and wet ground.
