Speakers
Courtney Mahrt Communication Specialist, the Centre for Living Organ Donation, UHN
Courtney holds a Masters in English Literature from Ryerson University, where she focused on postcolonial literature from the English-speaking Caribbean. She joined the Centre for Living Organ Donation at UHN in 2019 and has been immersed in the world live donor transplantation ever since. Having always been fascinated by story-telling, Courtney is constantly looking for new ways to share the incredible stories of living donors, transplant recipients, and their family and friends. She hopes that Living Transplant keeps past, present, and future patients informed and entertained – and provides comfort to patients currently waiting for transplant (hopefully with a few laughs along the way!).
Brittany Cole Registered Nurse, Ajmera Transplant Centre
Brittany has been with the Ajmera Transplant Centre (previously the Multi-Organ Transplant Program) for over five years. She is a registered nurse who is passionate about advocating for her patients, hearing their stories, and putting in IVs (of course). Brittany has always been intrigued by the lifestyles and daily routines of transplant patients and what happens once they leave the hospital. In contemplating her future in nursing and transplant, Brittany developed the idea for a transplant podcast and pitched it at the Transplant Program Dragons’ Den Competition, where she got the attention the Program Director, Dr. Atul Humar. Her goal for Living Transplant is to provide patients, caregivers, and families with information, support, and of course, entertainment.
Michael Ward Family Services Advisor, Trillium Gift of Life Network (Special Guest)
