Event description

Description

Enjoy a slideshow with Trudy's introductory talk, introducing the concepts she will be engaging with for the Retreat Weekend to follow.

Trudy has been working with and teaching Meaningful Life Therapy concepts for 20 years and is overjoyed and grateful to bring this inspiring program to Wellspring Calgary. Formerly the program manager of Wellspring Calgary, Trudy is currently enjoying an extended sabbatical and has relocated to Ottawa where her grandchildren reside. Having experienced cancer herself, Trudy is committed to living purposefully and mindfully in the here and now. As such, she finds herself enjoying her young grandchildren, scribbling down her musings, cycling and photographing as much as possible, and delighting in her annual cycling holiday. Trudy’s program ‘Living Well with Illness: A fundamental change of heart’ has been offered at Wellspring Calgary since 2013.

Living Well with Cancer - ‘Ikigai’, relates to a sense of purpose and joy of living, the essence of the slideshow and discussion offered at the speaker session with music/coffeehouse to follow. At the weekend retreat, Trudy, a cancer survivor, offers inspiring and practical strategies based on Meaningful Life Therapy, developed in Japan by Dr. Itami, a cancer specialist. ‘A Fundamental Change of Heart’ involves meaningful discussion, re-framing ideas and language to recognize and re-think how cancer affects your life. With a series of blogs in the four weeks following the retreat, Trudy keeps in touch online, with deeply connected blogs and podcasts that build on the concepts and community you feel throughout this program.
