Description

Location: Field Trip

Allan Gardens

As part of Hart House’s Location: Field Trip series, we invite students to join us for a walk that explores Truth and Reconciliation through place and storytelling. Going east and heading off campus, learn about Tkaronto and some prominent Indigenous public figures that shaped the city we know today. Facilitated by a guide from FirstStory Toronto, hear the histor(ies) of churches, government offices and educational sites and the roles they play(ed) in colonisation, and what we can do individually and collectively to act on the 94 Calls to Action.

This walking tour encourages students encourages students to interpret, record and reflect on the stories of Turtle Island and Canada, and consider how these stories shape our own place and identities. It provides an opportunity for students to build community while exploring the city.

Sometime before the tour, we invite you to download the free app created by First Story Toronto (iOS and Android).

Wednesday, March 29, 1pm-4pm, meet in the Hart House Reading Room.

Bring your cellphone and/or camera if you have one, comfy walking shoes, and dress prepared for the weather!
