Welcome, and a brief introduction to LocationTech
by Andrew Ross, Director of Ecosystem Development, Eclipse Foundation

LocationTech is a vendor neutral community of individuals and organizations developing a platform of open source geospatial technologies. It is hosted by the Eclipse Foundation. This presentation is a brief introduction and overview of key community initiatives.

Open Source Geospatial & Maps On Mobile Devices

by Steve Gifford, Consultant, Mousebird Consulting

Mobile devices, such as Android and iOS tablets and phones are everywhere. We use them for maps, of course, but they can also be used for interactive geodata display.

mousebird consulting makes the open source WhirlyGlobe-Maply toolkit which is used in a variety of apps, from the serious to the simply fun. We also make WhirlyViz, an app used for Javascript based interactive data visualization.

This talk will discuss the toolkits at a high level and what it takes to do geospatial data visualization on these devices. We'll have a number of interesting examples drawn from our own work as well as that of our users.

New Standards for Sharing Location and the OGC Development Process

by Raj Singh, Director of Interoperability Programs, OGC

Raj will talk about the recently approved GeoPackage and OWS Context standards and how they take data and map sharing to a new level. He will also describe the Interoperability Program, OGC's multi-firm, collaborative, rapid prototyping process that ensures standards are developed based on ideas backed by running code.
