Lofted Voices: An Invitation for Every Voice to be Proud and Present

A Celebration of the LGBTQ+ Community

Join us at lululemon Soho on June 23rd for our second Lofted Voices event, to celebrate voices of the LGBTQ+ community through a unique collaboration with Fit for Broadway and voices of the Broadway community.

You'll hear songs from Alex Newell, Sammy Rae, Deon’te Goodman, and more. Performances will be followed by a panel conversation on what it means to be Proud and Present, activism, and the arts hosted by Felicia Fitzpatrick (Playbill).
Lofted Voices co-creates opportunities with artists and performers to share their voices in unique ways by encouraging performance, conversation and collaboration.

Alex Newell: Broadway: Once on This Island (Asaka). Alex Recently played Wade "Unique" Adams, a transgender student, on "Glee."  Alex's other favorites includeHairspray (Motormouth Maybelle), Cinderella (Fairy Godmother), and Saturday Night Fever (Candy).  A recording artist with Atlantic Records, Alex has worked with Clean Bandit, Blonde and the Knocks. Alex's Debut EP Power, includes "Keep it Moving" and "Kill the Lights (Nile Rogers, DJ Cassidy).  He'll next be seen in NBC's midseason musical Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist.

Sammy Rae:  Singer/songwriter, bandleader, and human being Samantha Bowers was born in the small town of Derby, Connecticut. Sam first began writing songs at age 12 while taking piano lessons and listening to Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and Freddie Mercury playing on the family stereo. In 2013 at age 19, Sam packed up and moved to New York to pursue music and songwriting, enjoying a sixth-month residency at the prestigious Cotton Club jazz lounge in Harlem. After the release of the 2016 LP ‘Sugar’, The Friends were born from a collection of talented musicians and friends. Sammy Rae & The Friends would play shows around the NY Metro area as Sam kept composing and sharpening her craft, culminating in the July 2018 release of the self-produced EP ‘The Good Life’, premiered to a sold-out crowd at C’Mon Everybody in Brooklyn.  Her genre blending performances are high-energy, honest and quirky, influenced by the great performances of her childhood classic rock heroes. @sammyraemusic

Deon’te Goodman: Deon’te Goodman is a singer, actor, musician, and songwriter. He is currently in the broadway cast of Hamilton, where he performs in the ensemble and understudies George Washington and Hercules Mulligan/James Madison. He holds a degree in classical voice performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. @thedeontegoodman
