About this Event

Mark your calendars!

The University of Toronto Libraries Media Commons Archives Virtual Event Series continues on March 2, 2021 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Join us for a free screening of their rediscovered lost silent film “Secrets of the Night” (1924), followed by a panel discussion.

Directed by Herbert Blaché, this murder mystery-melodrama-comedy boasts an impressive cast led by James Kirkwood, Madge Bellamy, and ZaSu Pitts. Produced by Universal-Jewel, and complete with its original credits and ending, “Secrets of the Night” was found in a collection of silent films donated to the archives by Richard and Wayne Scott in 2016.

Directly following the screening Assistant Media Archivist Christina Stewart will moderate a panel discussion with collection donors, Richard and Wayne Scott, and the film’s piano accompanist Jordan Klapman.

The Zoom event link will be sent to registered attendees at 4:00pm on March 2, 2021, two hours before the screening.

For the best viewing experience, please ensure you are running the most up to date Zoom version available.
