Series Line-Up

October 15: Sara Hastings-Simon speaking on Critical Thinking

Interdisciplinary approaches to the complex energy and climate problem

In an increasingly complex world many of the big challenges facing society today require interdisciplinary solutions, with the energy and climate challenge as a key example. But interdisciplinarity is much more than addressing each of the separate elements in silos. The motivation must come from answering questions about systems, not simply from the perspective of one or even all the individual silos and connections across distant fields are most challenging but also often where the most progress can be made. Drawing on her experience at a policy think-tank, as a business consultant, and as a scientific researcher Sara will speak to how principles and insights from each of these dimensions can be combined to solve the energy and climate challenges we are facing today.

October 29: Ken Regan speaking on Decision Making

Decision Making in Leadership

After 18 years as CEO at CKUA Radio Network, Ken Regan has found that good leadership can and should be a malleable thing versus a rigid thing. He'll share how strong leadership is not a “one size fits all” concept and argue that leadership must be adaptable to situations, people, conditions or even ‘places’.

November 19: Drew Hayden Taylor speaking on Diversity

The Changing Face of Storytelling in the Indigenous 21st World

We have gone from telling stories around the campfire and kitchen tables to the stage, the page, the screen and ways our Elders could not have imagined. Still, it’s storytelling. I will explore my journey from my grandfather's bonfire to today's multi-media approach to weaving tales. It's an unexpected sojourn of adventure and humour.
