About this event
Explore the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area biodiversity with iNaturalist and a scavenger hunt.
It's easy as 1-2-3!
- Download the free iNaturalist app and make an account
- Take photos of wild plants and animals. Find wildlife. It can be any wild plant, insects, mushrooms, animal, fungi, or any other evidence of life (shells, scat, fur, tracks, feathers, nests)
- Upload your observation to share with the iNaturalist community
It is a great way to learn more as your discoveries are identified, so you can check back into iNaturalist and your account anytime!
As a fun challenge, we will do a scavenger hunt to see what we can find as part of the scavenger hunt!
Great for all ages.
Pre-requisites a love to get out into nature for a walk, and just observe what is in nature.
As it is a forest, sturdy walking shoes would be better than sandals, long pants would be better than shorts, and you may wish insect repellent.
If it is inclement weather i.e. raining this event will be cancelled. If you sign in we have a means to contact you should the event be cancelled for rain.
This is an Arbor Week event as proclaimed City of Saskatoon and the Province of Saskatchewan on a request by SOS Trees. Arbor Week celebrates "Trees Breathe Life"
Parking will be at the SW Off-Leash Recreation Area parking lot, but the scavenger hunt will take place to the west of the dog park and not inside the dog park.
