Description



Guided walk in English with Marc Farine throughout Lowertown East to learn about the contribution of immigrant communities to the neighbourhood, along with its history, people and vibrant culture. Participants learn about how French, Eastern European and Jewish immigrants transformed this neighbourhood. They visit schools, bakeries, restaurants and religious institutions that have been influenced by successive cohorts of immigrants.

Tour starts at Jules Morin Park (400 Cobourg Street) and ends at the Rideau Bakery, 384 Rideau Street.

Part of a series of Immigrant Heritage Walking Tours organized by the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Heritage Ottawa and the City of Ottawa, during Welcoming Ottawa Week (June 20 to 30, 2017).
