LRCA Volunteer Planting Day at Fisherman's Park West
Date and time
Volunteer with the LRCA to assist with the Fisherman's West Climate Change Awareness Park rehabilitation.
About this event
Join us Friday July 8th from 10am-1pm at Fisherman's Park West to manage for invasive Common Tansy and to do some additional planting to help restore and naturalize the park.
Last year through the project the goal was to return the area to a more naturalized condition by planting native trees, shrubs, and perennials and creating additional wetland/coastal areas near the shore. This will provide valuable breeding grounds, shelter, and forage for migratory waterfowl, birds, and pollinators, while also creating a space where the public can explore and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape.
We will be planting a small number of additional native trees, shrubs, and perennials as well as removing the Common Tansy in the immediate area to help give the newly planted species a chance to establish.
