About this event

April 20, 2022 marks the first in-person Lunch Poems event in over two years! Please join us to enjoy readings by Vancouver Poet Laureate Fiona Tinwei Lam with guests Adrienne Yeung and Britt McGillivray.

Fiona Tinwei Lam

Vancouver's sixth poet laureate Fiona Tinwei Lam has published three collections of poetry and a children’s book. Her poems have been featured in Best Canadian Poetry, in the League of Canadian Poets’ Poem in Your Pocket program, and thrice with BC’s Poetry in Transit, as well as in award-winning poetry videos made in collaboration with filmmakers that have screened worldwide. She edited The Bright Well: Contemporary Canadian Poems about Facing Cancer, and co-edited two nonfiction anthologies, Double Lives: Writing & Motherhood and Love Me True: Writers on the Ins, Outs, Ups & Downs of Marriage. Shortlisted for the City of Vancouver Book Prize and other awards, her work has been included in over 40 anthologies.

Adrienne Yeung

Adrienne Yeung is a queer, nonbinary, Han Chinese-Canadian mixed media artist and settler on the stolen homelands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. Their poetry has been published in Room magazine, Carnation Zine, Ricepaper, Poetry is Bad For You, Oratorealis, Untethered, Whiny Femmes Zine, and Juice Journal. They strive for a beautiful and meaningful life alongside their partner, their cat and their new puppy.

Britt McGillivray

Britt McGillivray is a poet, essayist, and editor from Vancouver, B.C. (unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples). Their work has been published or is forthcoming in Contemporary Verse 2, Room Magazine, SAD Mag, the New Ohio Review, the Santa Fe Writers Project, emerge21 and elsewhere. Recently, their poems have been shortlisted for CV2's Foster Poetry Prize and longlisted for Palette Poetry's Love and Eros prize. They are the founder of andand, a publishing project that amplifies LGBTQI+ writers and artists in North America and beyond. In 2022, they were selected as an artist-in-residence at Centrum, in Port Townsend, Washington and the Sundress Academy for the Arts, in Knoxville, Tennessee. A graduate of Simon Fraser University's Writer's Studio in Poetry, they are currently completing their first full-length book of poems, as well of their first autotheory novel, both of which explore queer time, relational grief, and identity against the cacophony of today's weird and unwieldy politics and culture.
