About this event

Hi, I’m Shannon!

I teach functional yoga. Functional yoga aims to increase our ability to move better in our everyday life. This is great for everyone, whether they are a regular mover or only move occasionally. It doesn’t matter if you are experienced in yoga or not – we are using yoga to better your movements!

Rather than focusing on the aesthetic of a pose (whether we look 'right'), functional yoga aims to expand on the foundational asana (poses) of yoga to explore shapes that may look 'imperfect' but that assist our strength, mobility and balance for the better.

Put more simply: in functional yoga, we move to feel better, not to look perfect.

Expect dynamic movement that explores your joints, muscles, fascia and connective tissue to find freedom and vitality.

Moving through poses from a functional framework has many benefits:

  • Increased mobility and strength
  • Understanding and knowledge of your unique body
  • Empowerment through connection to self
  • Release of tension and fostering calm
  • Better circulation and breathing
  • Healthy, safe and nourishing movement

Classes cost $15 per class or $120 for a ten class pass.

Ten class passes are $50 for seniors.
