Description

Artist talk by Lyla Rye
Tuesday, January 23
1 – 2 pm
BV340, Arts & Administration Building, U of T Scarborough

Join us for a free, public talk by Graham Fagen as part of the Visiting Artist Lecture Series, co-presented by the Doris McCarthy Gallery, and Studio program in the Department of Arts, Culture & Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Lyla Rye is a Toronto based artist who began her studies in architecture. She works in installation, sculpture, video and photography to explore our experience of architectural space. In her practice she is interested in creating encounters with architectural space that envelop the viewer. Using angled forms, images, and the space itself, she creates situations that require active viewing. Whether sculptural or video-based, the installations engage physically, optically, and conceptually, hailing viewers to their perception of time and space. For over 25 years her work has been exhibited in galleries across Canada and internationally. Lyla Rye is represented by General Hardware Contemporary in Toronto. For more information please see: www.lylarye.com

Food and refreshments will be provided. Students who are attending for the additional or required marks for their courses will need to sign-in upon arrival at the event.
