MAD ONES:
Toronto's Mad Ones return to live in person concerts supporting their fourth full-length album, Last Forever (November 2021). Last Forever is a diverse 10-song collection ranging from raw, punk-infused bangers to hook-laden anthems embellished by strings and horns.
Last Forever was produced by Mad Ones' singer/guitarist Andrew DeVillers, with contributions from By Divine Right's José Contreras, Adam King, HotKid front Woman Shiloh Harrison and is available now through Fortune Stellar Records.
Latest single "Breakdown" is a poem for time and distance and whether or not peace and prosperity are possible amidst chaos. It is a meditation on our proximity to circumstances and our enduring love for those who contribute something powerful in our lives. 'Breakdown' was also one of dearly departed bandmate Adam Balsam's favourite Mad Ones songs.
The new album sprouted during the extensive touring Mad Ones completed in support of their previous album, 2017’s Regretless (which featured guest appearances from members of The Sadies and Constantines) and continued right up until the 2020 pandemic lockdown, most notably accompanying Rusty on the late-2019 “Dogs Of Eastern Canada Tour” as well as dates with Canadian Punk legends Teenage Head.
Joining longtime bassist/vocalist Russ Fernandes and Mad Ones’ founder vocalist/ guitarist DeVillers is drummer/vocalist Jesse L. Bellon, who have begun work on new material for Mad Ones 5th LP and will continue to support “Last Forever” throughout 2022 on Canadian and European dates.
****
Mad Ones have performed at CMW, Sled Island, Steamwhistle Craft Beer Festival, SXSW, M For Montreal and NXNE, snagged support slots for The OBGMs, The Dirty Nil, PUP, The Growlers, Dilly Dally, By Divine Right, Pack A.D., The Thermals, HotKid, PS I Love You, Bash & Pop (Tommy Stinson of The Replacements), and many others.
“A bit of Big Star by way of The Replacements make it a fun listen. Regretless is like a jukebox filled with double A-side singles, with songs that sound familiar after hearing them just once. No pretense, no posing, but good time music about feeling bad.” - Here Comes The Flood
“Crunchy, garage-tinged rock'n'roll right. There are a growing number of pretension-free bands like this in Toronto — a positive sign amongst a sea of over-earnest, self-serious indie rockers — and Mad Ones are slowly climbing to the top of that heap.” - Exclaim!
“Full of piss and vinegar, pure heart and soul. Give it up for Mad Ones!” -Tommy Stinson (The Replacements)
