SPEAKERS
Moderator: Jonathan Perez, Director of Global Innovation and Fintech Partnerships at Scotiabank
Jonathan is responsible for driving innovation initiatives and incubating new capabilities and technologies across Scotiabank. Prior to this role, he was director of strategy for digital and international banking at Scotiabank, and an engagement manager in the technology practice at EY, responsible for driving technology transformations across financial services clients. Jonathan has a master’s in business, entrepreneurship and technology from the University of Waterloo, as well as a bachelor of applied science in systems engineering.
Panelist: Margaret Wu, Vice President of Investment at Georgian Partners
Margaret is involved in deal sourcing and due diligence for startups using applied artificial intelligence. Prior to working at Georgian Partners, she was a senior product manager for mobile marketing at Amazon. She also co-founded a biotech company and served as COO at OneSpout, a local e-commerce startup. Margaret began her career in consulting at Accenture, and holds an MBA from Cornell University, as well as bachelor’s degrees in science and environmental studies from the University of Waterloo.
Panelist: David Rozin, Vice President and Head of Technology and Innovation Banking at Roynat Capital at Scotiabank
David oversees a national team focused on supporting technology companies of all stages. For over a decade, he has been keenly focused on the technology sector, working with some of Canada’s most successful innovators and investors. David has developed deep subject matter expertise to support the unique financial needs of technology entrepreneurs, and has over 20 years’ experience in financial services with roles across strategy, finance and commercial banking. He holds a master’s from the Rotman School of Management, and a bachelor in economics from Concordia University.
Panelist: Mark Hyland, Senior Advisor of Enterprise at MaRS
Mark is an operator, entrepreneur and investor who specializes in starting and scaling businesses. He boasts over 25 years’ experience in tech and media, including more than 11 years as a sales and marketing executive at Quickplay. Mark is known for driving international expansion and streamlining sales processes. As an investor, he is the general partner for High Park Angels, a fund for early-stage B2B startups. Mark holds undergraduate degrees from McGill University and Dalhousie University, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.
