It’s that time of year – hunting and harvesting season! Dehydrating food is an age old method to preserve your harvested fruit, vegetables, and game.
In this workshop you’ll make a simple food dehydrator out of plywood and an electric light bulb to remove moisture from food and aid in its preservation.
Conservation Officer Aaron Koss Young will give a short presentation about harvesting wild game in Yukon and reducing food waste. Making jerky in your new dehydrator is a great way to reduce food waste – he’ll even share some favorite recipes!
About the instructor: Colin MacDonald is one of Yukonstruct’s Co-Chair and a hobbyist woodworker.
This workshop is developed in partnership with the Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Trust. YuKonstruct is grateful for their generous support allowing us to put on the workshop for only material costs!
