Event description

Description

Making a Homebrewer is a class meant to introduce beginner and intermediate homebrewers to the magic of all-grain brewing. The class is built around a brew day @ Brew North (~5 hrs) with an experienced homebrewer, who will show you the ropes. What better place to learn how to brew than at a local homebrew shop, from your local homebrew club!

This class is tailored for new brewers, so if you’ve never brewed before this is the class for you. Even if you’ve brewed extract/partial-mash and are looking to jump to all-grain this is also the class for you! Each attendee will be sent home with a $10 Gift Certificate for Brew North to help kickstart their brewing career.

Each class in this series will explore a new aspect from the world of yeast, hops and speciality malts. This month we will explore different yeasts/bacteria (London Ale and Brettanomyces) with a base recipe of a English Porter. Once the brew is complete, it will be shared at the next monthly club meeting of GTA Brews where participants are welcome to come taste the results!

The brewer for this month’s class will be John S Tyler. A GTA Brews member who has been brewing for over 20 years. He is a National BJCP judge, and is one of the few Canadian brewers to win a medal at the prestigious National Homebrew Competition in the US.
