There is a false (sex-negative) cultural narrative that has demonized this simple viral skin infection to make people believe they are lepers. The mainstream approach to dealing with herpes is pro-pharma and does not take lifestyle or diet into consideration at all. Not to mention the puritanical philosophy that still pervades our collective subconscious when it comes to empowered sexuality.
