Event description

Description

The day will consist of moving, watching, reading and writing. Starting at Arnside Pier, we will walk along the edge of the bay before entering Grubbins Wood Nature Reserve. Here, we will both observe and experience the movement within the wood: using our eyes, feet and fingers to trace pathways made by both ourselves and others, we will explore concepts of place-making and place-taking using simple movement scores.

As well as walking and observing on site, we will gather at the Arnside Educational Institute to reflect and discuss our experiences in the wood and thoughts on the readings. Everyone will be invited to create and share their individual responses to the wood and/or the readings: these responses can take any form, including writing, drawing, making, moving (sharing work will be optional). This opportunity is open to all post-graduate students who are interested in – or engaged with – a creative practice. We welcome a diversity of disciplines and backgrounds, and do not require participants to have any previous movement experience in order to take part.
