Building Your Brand

Facilitated by Sami Squire

@samdsquire  https://www.samdsquire.com/

In an ever connected world, how do we balance our mental and physical wellness with the pull of technology and social media? How do we help our students with this balance, while also preparing them with the “soft skills” necessary for careers not yet imagined? In this Q and A session with Sam Squire (yoga teacher, meditation guide and handstand addict) we will begin to tackle these very questions.

About Sam Squire: When Sam graduated from high school she LOVED science and went into pre-pharmacy in University. After year one, she jetted off to Greece and did a yoga teacher training instead. Eventually she returned to Winnipeg, did some more expensive soul searching at University before landing at the Creative Communications program at Red River College. Sam graduated from Red River College in 2017 with a diploma in Public Relations and Communications Management. Sounds irrelevant to yoga, right? Her background in public relations and communications has helped her become the yoga teacher she is today and it gave her the tools she needed to turn her business (her side hustle) into a full-time gig!

Sharing Beyond The School

Facilitated by Andy Mead

@mmshanover

As a principal, sharing school successes with the local and global community is becoming an increasingly important aspect of the job.  This presentation will highlight opportunities that school leaders (and really, all educators) can utilize to spread the word about the great things that are happening in their schools!

Connecting Beyond The Classroom

Facilitated by Jennifer McKiel

@mrsmckielsclass

This presentation will highlight some of the creative ways that classroom teachers can utilize social media and online tools to capture and share teaching and learning in real time.  Tools like Instagram, Twitter & See Saw allow teachers and students to connect with families, friends and even other classrooms.  Even with the youngest of students, leveraging these tools is a great way of celebrating teaching and learning beyond the traditional confines of the classroom!
