David is a dynamic and energizing trainer – one of best in the country.  He will hold your attention for the duration of each session with his entertaining style, depth of subject matter knowledge and experienced understanding of our sector. You don’t want to miss these opportunities to be inspired and to gain practical knowledge / tools.

Workshop Overview

Staff and board members participating in Managing Non-Profit Risk Confidently will leave the session with a greater understanding of:

  • “Fear-busting” legal risk management;
  • Core Canadian legal concepts;
  • Top Ten Principles for Risk Management;
  • Six Starters for Operational Risk Management;
  • Top 16 Operational Risks;
  • Creating a “Living” Risk Register.
  • Bonus: David provides a list of the “2018 Questions to send your Insurance Broker before your Renewal”.

About the Facilitator

David Hartley

David spent his professional life until the age of 40 in the world of risk and insurance, including over 7 years training insurance brokers, primarily for Co-operators and Aviva.  David then directed the Insurance & Liability Resource Centre for Nonprofits for 5 years, funded by Ontario, a project of the national charity Imagine Canada.  He now works as a consultant full-time assisting nonprofits and charities of all sizes across Canada.  He has assisted over 20,000 nonprofit and charity leaders, hundreds of organizations, in over 140 Canadian cities and towns.


David carries the Canadian Risk Management (C.R.M.) designation from the University of Toronto.  He also is certified to train John Maxwell’s leadership material (founding member of John’s training team).

 
He is a very proud husband and daddy to 4 wonderful children.
