Event description

Description

How do you communicate your needs and ambitions to the people to whom you report? When done well, managing up makes your boss’s job easier and working together more generative. Dr. Ubaka Ogbogu will share a case study from his own professional experience and provide you with the tools you need to ensure you are helpful to those in positions of authority when you need to manage the managers.

This 1.5 hour event includes a 1 hour workshop followed by informal networking reception:

5 - 6 pm: Workshop facilitated by Ubaka Ogbogu

6 - 6:30 pm: Networking reception for participants with refreshments

This workshop is offered to U of A post-docs as part of the Swim stream of the Graduate Leadership Development program.

Choose this stream if you are a post-doc who wants to develop your ability to meet the leadership challenges unique to academic institutions and connect with academic leaders on campus.

Academic leaders on campus share their expertise and experiences to build your capacity to navigate the complex higher education environment. Develop your personal leadership skills while considering the importance of organizational structure and context. Attend one or all four workshops to connect with other post-docs and help build a post-doc community on campus.

Visit uab.ca/gld for full details on our graduate programming.

Graduate students may be invited to attend a Swim workshop if the event does not reach capacity.
